
Two local colleges are being honored for their contributions to the Sheboygan County economy.
The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) has recognized Lakeland University and Lakeshore College as the 2025 Economic Drivers of the Year.
The award honors local institutions and businesses that demonstrate exceptional and ongoing contributions to the economic vitality of Sheboygan County.
Lakeland University was celebrated for its Cooperative Education program, which allows students to earn academic credit through real-world employment with local business partners.
Since its launch in 2018, Lakeland students have worked more than 668,000 hours through the program, earning over $10 million in wages while building hands-on career skills in Sheboygan County and beyond.
Lakeshore College was honored for its deep alignment with the workforce needs of area employers.
The college continuously adapts its program offerings to address in-demand fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, and skilled trades.
The local colleges were presented with their awards at the SCEDC Annual Celebration.
