One of the longest continuously running community theater groups in Wisconsin has reached a milestone.
The Masquers in Manitowoc have started their 95th consecutive season with their latest show at the Capital Civic Center (CCC) called The Games Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays.
Throughout the community theatre group’s history, they’ve produced at least two shows every season since they started back in 1931.
That includes during historical events like World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Masquers have not always performed at Capital, having done productions at Wilson Middle School in the past.
However, Masquers’ 91st season marked their return to the stage at the CCC.
The Games Afoot opened last night (November 6th) and will be performed tonight (November 7th) and tomorrow (November 8th).
Tonight’s show will start at 7:30 p.m., while on Saturday, there will be a first-time matinée beginning at 3:00 p.m.
The show takes place in the home of the actor who played Sherlock Holmes, William Gillette, in Connecticut.
But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in the house of tricks and mirrors turn dangerous.
The Masquers will be putting on two other shows this year, including the true tale of Radium Girls, March 5th-7th, and the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on May 7th-9th.
