Over 150 food service workers at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will soon be out of a job.
Elior, Inc. has informed the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) that it will be ending its contract with the university, resulting in a total of 155 layoffs due to a facility closure.
While these layoffs are permanent, the termination of employment will not begin until approximately May 17th, 2026, when the UW-Oshkosh spring semester concludes.
Positions subject to this mass layoff include chefs, dishwashers, and drivers.
The positions with the highest number of employees to be laid off will be 51 food service workers, 27 student workers, and 24 cooks.
Some, but not all, affected employees are subject to collective bargaining and have been given appropriate notice regarding the closure and subsequent contract termination.
