
The 2026 budget has been passed in the City of Sheboygan.
The budget proposal for next year was discussed and voted on by the Sheboygan Common Council at their meeting held this past Monday (November 3rd).
In total, the City will have a budget of $189,816,781, approximately $8.5 million more than in 2025, equivalent to a 4.95% increase. 2026 spending is highlighted by $71.6 million or 37.3% of the budget for Public Works projects and $53.3 million or 28.12% of the budget going towards Public Safety.
Public Works spending will include capital projects, notably in the Wastewater Fund, while the construction of a Public Safety Campus will account for an increase in Public Safety spending next year.
Additionally, in 2026 the City tax levy will be $30.1 million, up 2.55% from this year while next year’s assessed tax rate is set to be $6.25, 5.7% less than in 2025.
