The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County is preparing for its most extensive campaign of the year.
The Red Kettle Campaign will run starting on Friday (November 7th) through December 24th, with the iconic kettles placed across Manitowoc and Two Rivers.
The local Salvation Army chapter is doing more this year with a special Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff celebration on Wednesday, November 26th, at 5:00 p.m., right before the Lakeshore Holiday Parade.
The organization will set up at the Farmer’s Market parking lot across from the Manitowoc Public Library, where they will debut a giant six-foot kettle and demonstrate the season’s newest way to donate, called Tap to Give.
It’s a contactless donation option that lets supporters donate instantly with their smartphones or cards.
Long-time bellringer Tom Drill is also expected to join the Salvation Army kickoff.
Salvation Army Development Director Michael Pearson says Drill has shown up in the cold, in the wind, with a smile and a bell, making him a true cornerstone of the Red Kettles in Manitowoc.
