Manitowoc Lutheran continues preparing for its second consecutive trip to the WIAA State Girls Volleyball tournament later this week.
The Lancers battle the Barron Bears in a Division Three State Semifinal Friday morning at 8 a.m. at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.
The defending Division Four state champs knocked off Big East Conference foe St. Mary Catholic in a Sectional Final Saturday night in Chilton, prevailing in a two-hour, five-set thriller.
On WOMT Sports Talk Monday night, Head Coach Lacey Behnke says they learned a lot from that match after sweeping the Zephyrs earlier in the year.
“We love when teams push us. And if you know anything about this group of girls, they love a challenge,” she explained. “They made us better. They spoke with some weaknesses that we worked on in practice today to clean up. Somebody asked me, ‘Would you rather take the three sets or the five sets?’ In all honesty, the three or five, we don’t care. As long as we are getting challenged, we are getting pushed, and we leave that court a better team than when we came on the court.”
Coverage of the Lancers from the state tournament begins at 7:45 a.m. Friday morning on 980 WCUB and at CubRadio.com.
