The Kiel Fire Department has been awarded a grant to get new equipment.
The Wisconsin Public Service Foundation awarded funding to the department through the 2025 Rewarding Responders Grant, allowing them to purchase a Sensit Gold G2 4-gas meter.
The Sensit Gold G2 is an advanced, multi-gas detection instrument designed to detect oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and combustible gases through its lower explosive limit sensor.
The Kiel Fire Department also noted, “The device provides real-time monitoring and audible alarms, allowing firefighters to identify hazardous atmospheres during gas leaks, structure fires, confined space rescues, and other emergency incidents where air quality may be compromised.”
The department will be trained on the new equipment during its regular training night, where they will cover proper operation, calibration, and response procedures to ensure consistent and safe use in the field.
Kiel Fire thanked the WPS Foundation for “their continued support of local first responders through the Rewarding Responders Grant program.”
