The woman charged in the crash that injured a prominent Manitowoc couple is set to return to court this morning.
30-year-old Kaitlynn Cress will be in the Shawano County Courthouse at 11:15 a.m. for a plea hearing. Cress was behind the wheel of the vehicle that crossed the centerline on July 6th, 2024, and struck Jason and Tina Prigge.
The couple was riding their motorcycles near the intersection of County Road R and Lily Pond Road in Shawano County at the time of the crash, which resulted in Tina losing a leg and an arm, and Jason suffering a severely broken leg.
In total, Cress has been charged with two counts each of Reckless Driving-Cause Great Bodily Harm, 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Operate with Restricted Controlled Substance, four counts of Injury by Use of a Vehicle while Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, and single counts of 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Deviating from Lane of Traffic, Operating Left of Center Causing Great Bodily Harm, Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance.
Cress had her bond set at $12,000 cash, which was posted 13 days after the crash.
She was set to head to trial earlier this year, but her attorney instead filed a request for a plea hearing, which was granted.
