Construction has begun on a new fire training tower for the Kiel Fire Department.
The department announced in April that it was raising money for the tower, which would provide a more realistic training environment that simulates real-life emergencies and allows firefighters to practice life-saving techniques in a safe, controlled setting.
Over $40,000 was raised for the tower, which is being built from modified shipping containers, and the project received significant funding from several businesses across eastern Wisconsin.
The Kiel Fire Department highlighted some big contributors, including Containers 411 of Chilton, C.D. Smith Construction, and the City of Kiel’s Department of Public Works.
The Kiel Fire Department finishes saying, “This project shows what can happen when the community comes together.”
How long the training tower will take to complete was not announced.
