A now-former band teacher at Fox Valley Lutheran High School is facing over 20 charges of possession of child pornography.
WBAY reports that 63-year-old James Neujahr was officially charged in Outagamie County court last week and has since been let go by the high school after the charges were announced.
A criminal complaint alleges that Neujahr was identified with having child sexual abuse materials after the Appleton Police Department received a cyber tip.
Police say that while speaking with the 63-year-old, he admitted to searching for and possessing the material on an external hard drive and two laptops.
A search warrant was done at Neujahr’s home, and law enforcement says that there were about 2,000 images of child sexual abuse material on the hard drive.
Before it was taken down, the school’s website said Neujahr served as the high school band director and Fox Valley Lutheran School’s band director.
The Appleton Police Department also says there is no evidence to suggest that any children were harmed at the school.
