
Hmong people are getting ready to celebrate a major resettlement milestone later this month.
The Green Bay Hmong New Year Celebration returns for its 50th anniversary of the Hmong resettlement that happened in America after the Vietnam War.
he group Peb Yog Hmoob, which translates to “We are Hmong”, will hold the event from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15th, and from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16th, at the UW-Green Bay Kress Center during the day, and at the Riverside Ballroom for night activities.
The event will feature a variety of activities, including a juried dance competition, sports tournaments, veteran honors, and performances from Hmong artists.
Attendees also have the chance to enjoy an array of food and merchandise vendors offering a variety of cuisines and unique crafts.
The event kicks off on the 15th with dignitaries, Keynote Speakers, and Actor Doua Moua, who starred in Mulan and Gran Torino.
The Peb Yog Hmoob group calls the two-day event an exciting opportunity to experience the rich traditions of the Hmong community and to celebrate their contributions to the United States.
