Virginia M. Miller, age 87, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on October 29, 2025 at her home.
Virginia was born on March 23, 1938 in Marathon County, Wisconsin to the late George and Elizabeth (Miller) Krupka. She spent the first 15 years of her life in Milwaukee and had very fond memories of her time there. Virginia moved to Tisch Mills with her family, where they ran the Tisch Mills General Store. There she met her future husband Larry. On September 28, 1957, Virginia married Larry Miller at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. They resided in Mishicot where they raised their three children. Virginia and a friend, Sharon, opened the Y-Go-By restaurant in Mishicot. Through the years, she worked at Kewaunee Nuclear Plant, Aurora Health Care, and for the past 30 years, Virginia was a property manager for Murphy Development.
Virginia was a devout Catholic and was very proud of her family. She loved spending time with her 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and attending all of their activities. Virginia enjoyed traveling, golfing, sewing and going out to eat with her family and friends.
Survivors include Virginia’s son, Gary (Marlene) Miller, Tisch Mills; daughter, Cheryl (Randy) Valenta, Mishicot; son-in-law, Terry Thorne, Two Rivers; 10 grandchildren, Kelley (Melanie) Thorne, Jackie (Alex) Bruder, Kendall (Sarah) Thorne, Jennifer “Jenna Rose” (Jason) Sisel, Matthew Miller, Daniel Miller, Angela (Jeff) Chalupny, Stephanie (Russ) Wilson, Jacob (Lauren) Valenta, and Danielle (Adam) Bruder; 20 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Frank (Bonnie) Krupka, James (Kay) Krupka, Marie (Dave) Draper and Carol Mitchell; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Krupka and Bonnie Krupka; also other family and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Larry, and daughter, Lynette Thorne. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Elizabeth Krupka, brothers Joseph, Norbert, Dennis, Jerome, George and John Krupka, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Vivian Miller; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Mitchell, Jean Krupka, Mary Ann Krupka, Barbara Krupka, and Lois Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with burial to take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Tisch Mills. Following the Mass, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
