A fire at an area state forest was contained by the City of Two Rivers Fire Department.
Two Rivers firefighters, Town of Two Rivers Firefighters, plus mutual aid, were called to Point Beach State Forest north of Neshotah Beach yesterday afternoon (October 30th).
The fire in the forest has been put out, and fire crews also worked to extinguish remaining embers and conduct an overhaul of the area.
No details were released on how the fire started.
The Two Rivers Fire Department explains that fires in open areas require a coordinated response involving multiple resources from agencies across the county.
That included the use of UTVs equipped with small fire pumps and special brush trucks to take firefighters to areas where fire trucks can’t reach.
The fire department explains that the incident also serves as an essential reminder to the public to use caution with outdoor activities like campfires, burning leaves, or operating equipment in wooded areas.
It’s always important to check local burning restrictions, as a small spark can quickly spread under dry or windy conditions.
