A tip from a student has led to the arrest of a man with a gun in the City of Fond du Lac.
The Fond du Lac Police Department received a call yesterday (October 30th) just after 12:45 p.m. from a student at Fond du Lac High School who reported seeing a male with a firearm in his waistband near the school pond.
Patrol and School Resource Officers responded to the scene immediately and quickly located a male matching the description.
The unidentified man then fled on foot when authorities attempted to make contact, and following a brief foot pursuit, the individual was safely apprehended.
A search of the area followed, and K9 Rip with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was able to successfully locate a 9mm handgun along with a loaded 9mm magazine nearby.
After locating the weapon, the man, a Fond du Lac resident, was taken into custody, and authorities assured the public that there was no additional risk to the community.
After the arrest, the Fond du Lac Police Department commended the student for reporting the incident.
