James M. Konecny, age 73, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay.
He was born May 27, 1952 in Manitowoc, son of the late John F. and Gladys (Jentsch) Konecny. Jim attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1970. He was employed at Manitowoc Engineering/Cranes for 40 years, retiring in 2012. Jim was a skilled musician who enjoyed playing keyboard and guitar as well as singing for events including many weddings. His first band was the Elk River Band that he started with his friends, and he played in various other bands locally over the years. Jim was a member of First Lutheran Church and was a member of the church band called Fire Within. He was an avid golfer, and in his younger years enjoyed camping with his family.
Jim was survived by his significant other: Darlene Sheehy; his son: Erik (Lisa) Konecny; his daughter: Valerie Thomas; three grandchildren: Katelyn Konecny and Daemon and Sophia Thomas; one brother: John L. Konecny; Darlene’s family; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and bandmates. He was preceded in death by his parents: John F. and Gladys Konecny and his sister-in-law: Linda Konecny.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at First Lutheran Church, 521 N. 8th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Andy Wendle. Jim will be laid to rest at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Following the service, a luncheon will be held for family and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water Street, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at First Lutheran Church, 521 N. 8th Street, Manitowoc.
