
The Trump administration has denied Wisconsin’s request for federal hazard mitigation grants.
This request was to help six counties recover from August’s severe storms and flooding.
The rejection follows an earlier decision to withhold more than $26 million in public assistance for damages.
Without federal funding, affected communities face challenges rebuilding infrastructure and preparing for future disasters.
Governor Tony Evers says the state will appeal both decisions and has 30 days to provide additional justification.
