Two area organizations are crossing county lines to support those living with Alzheimer’s.
The GameBoard of Sheboygan and the Manitowoc County Historical Society are partnering together for the SPARK! program on November 11th.
The Historical Society’s SPARK! program provides interactive and engaging experiences for those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of memory loss, along with their care partners.
It is also a part of a regional network of cultural institutions that participate in offering socialization opportunities.
On why this partnership is important, Lynn Potyen, owner of The GameBoard, said, “Whether we’re children or older adults, play reminds us of who we are. It opens the door to conversation, creativity, and connection. I’m honored to help share that experience through the SPARK! Program.”
During this SPARK! session, Potyen, a longtime advocate for the social and cognitive benefits of play, will lead attendees through a series of engaging and easy-to-learn games in an effort to inspire connection, joy, and laughter.
Registration for SPARK! sessions are required and can be done online.
