A man who was convicted of causing an incident with law enforcement in downtown Manitowoc last year has yet to be sentenced.
Court records show that 40-year-old Demetrius Norton has had four sentencing hearings since his first, scheduled for August 4th.
He’s now getting a fifth sentencing hearing in January.
Norton was convicted of battery or threat to a judge, prosecutor, or law enforcement in May this year.
Other charges, including disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting or obstructing a police officer, were dismissed but read into the record.
Manitowoc Police were called to the Manitowoc Place Apartments on N. 8th Street in March last year after getting a call saying Norton was threatening to kill someone in the apartment complex.
Officers arrived and heard Norton yelling profanities and threatening to shoot anyone who approached him in a stairwell.
He went inside his apartment, prompting MPD to call the Manitowoc County SWAT Team.
Gunshots were fired during the incident, but no one was injured.
Norton was eventually arrested with K9 Riley luring the 40-year-old out of the apartment.
