The City of Manitowoc’s Parks Division is working to winterize its outdoor park restrooms and water fountains.
While early closures were necessary to winterize the restrooms properly, some will remain open all winter at different parks, including Halvorsen, Lighthouse, Lincoln, and Manitou.
Director of Public Infrastructure Dan Koski also says the Silver Creek Fieldhouse public restrooms will stay open during the winter.
Other restrooms at the Lincoln Park concessions stand and Rheaume Park could remain open all winter, but it will be weather-dependent.
Koski says that accumulating snow and or ice will cause the closure of those restrooms.
Other restrooms in Manitowoc parks not mentioned will be closed by this Friday (October 31st).
Until the water is turned back on in the spring, a portable toilet will be available for use at Upper Henry Schutte Park because there is no furnace in the public restroom.
