A man charged with stealing from a Fox Crossing cemetery is heading to trial.
Court documents show that 58-year-old Bradley Bloch was back in Winnebago County court yesterday (October 27th) as he faces one felony charge of Theft of Movable Property $10,000 – $100,000.
At yesterday’s appearance, Bloch waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and the court found probable cause in the case.
As a result, the 58-year-old was bound over for trial.
Bloch has been accused of stealing and selling six cast-iron cross grave markers from a cemetery in Fox Crossing earlier this year.
Each of these iron cross grave markers is at least 150 years old and valued at approximately $10,000 to $15,000 each.
Once they were reported stolen, the Fox Crossing Police Department opened an investigation, quickly tracing one of the crosses to a Facebook Marketplace post.
This led authorities to Bloch, a Lamartine resident, who was able to be placed near the cemetery at the time of the thefts, thanks to evidence obtained throughout the investigation.
Eventually, all six crosses were tracked down to various buyers in Wisconsin and Illinois, who were unaware they had purchased stolen goods.
Bloch will return to court for his arraignment on December 18th.
