Following a decision made in Sheboygan County Circuit Court regarding a Police Lieutenant, the City is looking to appeal.
An oral ruling was made by Judge Samantha Bastil on October 10th regarding the case William Adams vs. City of Sheboygan Police and Fire Commission.
Prior to the ruling, Adams, a Lieutenant with the Sheboygan Police Department, had been on suspension without pay for an undetermined period of time.
In her ruling, Judge Bastil ordered that Adams be reinstated to his rank of Lieutenant while also receiving back pay for the time he was under suspension.
During a special Sheboygan Police and Fire Commissioners meeting held last week, the group convened in a closed session to discuss this decision by the court and what to do next.
Following that closed session, the Commission voted unanimously to move forward with an appeal to Judge Bastil’s oral ruling.
Also included in that vote is a request to the Sheboygan Common Council to authorize the appeal with the retention of legal counsel to do so.
The matter will now move in front of the Council for final appeal approval at a meeting in the near future.
