Congressman Glenn Grothman is among a group of lawmakers in Washington who are demanding transparency from Governor Tony Evers.
Rep. Grothman, along with Congressmen Tom Tiffany, Brian Steil, Scott Fitzgerald, and Tony Weid, sent a letter to the governor regarding more than 200 undisclosed cases involving Wisconsin teachers, aides, substitutes, and administrators accused of sexual misconduct and grooming behavior.
In the letter, they say the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has “engaged in a cover-up to protect adults who have been accused of criminal behavior towards children,” citing a report by The Capital Times.
In that article, it was revealed that between 2018 and 2023, under then-DPI Superintendent Tony Evers and current Superintendent Jill Underly, over 200 sexual misconduct cases were shielded from the public.
The Congressmen added in their letter, “Rather than covering up these allegations, each incident should be thoroughly investigated and, if verified, the public and the student’s parents should be informed…Our kids deserve safety. Our parents deserve transparency. Wisconsinites deserve answers.”
