An inaugural event coming to Sheboygan next weekend is looking to shine a light on community-based, grassroots DIY art.
The Mead Public Library will be holding the first-ever SheboyZine Fest on November 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Zines are considered self-published, small-circulation magazines or booklets created in the DIY aesthetic for artistic or educational purposes.
SheboyZine Fest will bring artists from all over the Midwest to Sheboygan to share their work, give lectures, lead workshops, and much more.
Local artists are also encouraged to attend, equipped with their own zine, or take part in one of the many workshops to create one.
For those new to the world of zines, Jenn Walter, a local artist, will lead the What’s a Zine educational discussion at 10:00 a.m. to kickoff the day of festivities at the library.
This event is free of charge and open to people of all ages and skills.
