The Sheboygan Fire Department was able to act quickly and prevent a garage fire from spreading to nearby residences.
Assistant Chief Michael Lubbert tells SeehaferNews.com that the crew from Fire Station 5 was first on the scene of the fire at 11:00 this morning in the 1400 block of Greenfield Avenue.
The full department was dispatched to attack the blaze in a detached garage.
Thanks to their quick reaction time, the damage to nearby homes and structures was minimized, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters remained on scene for roughly an hour and a half to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the Sheboygan Fire Department is reminding residents to “use caution when working in garages or outbuildings, to keep open flames under close supervision, and to avoid using portable cooking or heating devices in enclosed spaces.”
The fire caused an estimated $80,000 in damage.
