Sheboygan’s Above and Beyond Children’s Museum is preparing for a weekend of celebration and education.
This weekend, Above and Beyond will celebrate and explore Dia de los Muertos, an annual event each year from Mexican culture that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away.
Throughout the weekend, Mexican artist Gabriela Marván, co-curator of the children’s museum Cultural Exchange Exhibit, will lead guests through educational programs.
Marván will teach those in attendance about the holiday’s origin and lead workshops on crafting ofrendas, papel picado, and paper marigolds.
These hands-on workshops serve as an opportunity to celebrate tradition, creativity, and connection through the remembrance Dia de los Muertos offers each year.
Registration for some of the workshops is required, and space is limited.
Those looking to celebrate Dia de los Muertos at the Above and Beyond Children’s Museum this weekend can find more information or register by visiting abkids.org.
