Major administrative changes are on the way in the City of Sheboygan.
These changes will be formally announced today (October 20th) when the Common Council meets at City Hall at 6:00 p.m.
First up will be Mayor Ryan Sorenson, who is set to appoint Elizabeth Majerus to the role of City Attorney, effective immediately.
This appointment comes after the position was left vacant for months following the resignation of former attorney Charles Adams amid a legal dispute with the City.
Majerus’ appointment is also a major milestone for Sheboygan, as she is the first to take the role via appointment rather than election, and she will also be the first woman to ever serve as Sheboygan’s City Attorney.
The other major change will be the announcement of District 4 Alder Robert La Fave’s resignation from the Common Council, effective October 31st.
On November 3rd, the Council will hold a vote to determine who will take Alder La Fave’s seat to fill out his term.
All interested parties are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to Mayor Sorenson and City Clerk Meredith DeBruin by no later than 4:30 p.m. on October 30th.
