A Fond du Lac Man charged with killing a motorcyclist earlier this year has entered his plea.
Court records show that 68-year-old Mark Snider was back in court last week for a status conference as he faces charges of Second-Degree Reckless Homicide and First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
At Snider’s hearing on Thursday (October 16th), he and his legal counsel formally entered a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to both counts he has been charged with.
The 68-year-old was arrested on March 28th for his role in a crash that killed 26-year-old Elijah Sowin.
Investigations that followed led the Fond du Lac Police Department to believe that this crash in the 600 block of South Main Street was not accidental but rather a deliberate and dangerous act that led directly to Sowin’s death.
Authorities believe that Snider intentionally swerved into Sowin’s motorcycle, causing him to crash into the driver’s side.
The 26-year-old would be transported to a local hospital for treatment, but would later be pronounced dead as a result of his injuries sustained in this crash.
Snider now awaits his not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect evaluation and will return to court on December 11th for a status conference.
