A domestic violence incident landed a Manitowoc man in jail on drug charges.
Officers were called to CORE Treatment Services on Dewey Street on October 15th to investigate a report of disorderly conduct.
The victim reported that, two days earlier, she and 37-year-old Georgio Williams had gotten into a verbal argument, which escalated to him punching her.
The victim initially said she did not want charges filed against Williams, but changed her mind and added that she believed he had gone back to selling and/or using drugs.
His probation agent was contacted, who placed him on a hold.
When police contacted Williams, he denied that anything physical had occurred, but was placed under arrest.
While being taken to the squad car, Williams reportedly attempted to pull away from the officers and refused to walk.
He was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail, where drugs were located on his person, and it was learned he had ingested some of the drugs, later identified as methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Williams was then taken to a local hospital for treatment before being booked into the jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Battery, Possession of Meth and Fentanyl, each with Intent to Sell, Resisting an Officer, and two counts of Possession of THC.
At his bail hearing on Friday, Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa ordered Williams to be held on a $3,000 cash bail.
He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim, to maintain absolute sobriety, and not to possess any controlled substances unless prescribed.
Williams’ initial appearance is scheduled for today at 1:30 p.m. in Branch 2.
