One of the most popular hunting seasons in Wisconsin is now open.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding Wisconsinites that pheasant season has begun and will remain open until January 4th.
Opening weekend has a bag limit of one rooster per day, but beginning on Monday (October 20th), the limit will be increased to two roosters per day, which will remain in place until the season comes to a close.
This time around, the DNR plans to stock approximately 75,000 pheasants across the state while hunting season is in place, with bird releases happening twice a week for the first two or three weeks, depending on production levels.
With any gun hunting season, the DNR is also urging hunters to practice the basic rules of firearm safety while wearing blaze orange or pink to remain visible to other hunters and outdoor recreators.
