Two more area representatives have announced their First Responders of the Year.
27th District Representative Lindee Brill, who represents western Sheboygan County and Kiel, selected soon-to-be-retired Kiel Police Officer Cory Wilkens for her district.
Brill says Wilkins has served for 35 years as an officer, working in field training, as a firearms instructor, and as a dispatcher, and notes that his career stands as an exemplary example of a lifetime of service to one’s community, state, and nation.
Wilkens began as a dispatcher in 1991, then transitioned to a community service officer and eventually became a full-time officer.
Also, District 2 Representative Shae Sortwell has named Appleton Police Officer John Kowalski his recipient for the award.
Kowalski has dedicated a total of eleven years serving as a law enforcement officer, and has proactively served on multiple specialty units and demonstrated a commitment to leading by example.
Rep. Sortwell noted, “It was an honor to present John Kowalski with a citation recognizing his dedication to serving the community including performing lifesaving CPR, for his commitment to growing his skills, and challenging his fellow officers to do the same.”
