The New Holstein Police Department is warning its residents about a scam involving them.
Some residents received mail asking them to solicit donations to provide law enforcement agencies with bulletproof vests, helmets, and other protective equipment, as well as training.
The solicitation originates from the U.S. Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (USDSA).
New Holstein Police says that they are not affiliated with the organization and have not received funding from the USDSA.
The department encourages residents to exercise caution when considering unsolicited requests for donations, particularly those that imply a connection to local law enforcement.
Anyone who’s not sure about any unsolicited requests can contact the New Holstein Police Department directly at 920-898-4241.
