Manitowoc Lutheran concluded the home portion of the regular season with an impressive straight-set victory over the Valders Vikings.
The Lancers prevail 25-12, 25-14, and 25-20 in front of a large crowd on senior night at Lancer Circle.
Manitowoc Lutheran jumped out to huge leads in the first two sets, but Valders took an 11-4 lead in the third before a 21-9 Lancer run put the match away.
Lancers Head Coach Lacey Behnke tells seehafernews.com that her squad executed the basics to win the match.
“I’m proud of my girls. They really focused on their serving tonight,” she said. “My phrase to them all the time is the game is about serve and serve receive. I thought they did a really good job attacking their serves and did a nice job of serve and serve receive tonight.”
Valders Head Coach Pam Erickson said falling behind early against a good Lancer team made it difficult to come from behind.
“We talked all season that if we serve tough and pass well, that everything will come together,” she explained. “We struggled a bit passing tonight, but we do press on the serve. I don’t care that they serve deep but not the net serves. At least you have a chance to go after it if the served is a little bit deeper.”
Manitowoc Lutheran improves to 25 and 8 on the season, while Valders falls to 21-11. Both teams play in multi-school events on Saturday before opening tournament play next Thursday night on their respective home floors.
