The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County has kicked off an annual donation drive aimed at keeping children warm over the winter season.
Coats for Kids is now underway, where the Salvation Army asks the community to donate winter clothing items for families in need.
Donations of new or gently used winter coats are being accepted through October 24 at drop-off locations throughout Manitowoc County.
In addition to collecting coats, applications to receive a coat are also open through October 24.
Families in need of winter gear for their children can apply online or in person to ensure every little one is bundled up before the first snow falls.
Lt. Samantha Tamayo noted, “Every coat makes a difference. When a child heads off to school wrapped in warmth, that’s a community effort at work. It’s one of the simplest – and kindest – ways to show our neighbors we care.”
Applications and drop-off locations can be found at SAManitowoc.org.
This is one of many fundraising and donation events planned for the end of the year, with Toys for Tots and the Red Kettle Campaign coming up very soon as well.
