A Sheboygan-based nonprofit and health resource center is expanding its services to the City of Plymouth.
Anchor of Hope will be opening a new medical center in the Riverwalk Center on East Mill Street in Plymouth, with their first day of service beginning tomorrow (October 16th).
Anchor of Hope serves as a community resource for individuals experiencing unexpected pregnancy or related sexual health concerns.
Initially, the focus of services offered in Plymouth will be pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and STD testing done by licensed medical professionals, all of which will be offered at no cost to patients.
The nonprofit conducted an audit of its services, which revealed that while patients are willing to travel 50 miles for treatment, 80% of potential patients would prefer to travel five miles or less.
It also showed that, currently, 91% of Anchor of Hope patients are from a 25-mile radius, to which their CEO and Director of Operations, Jacky Drewry, said, “These critical statistics made it clear that an expansion into the Plymouth area would be beneficial and allow us to serve an expanded geographic area to the west and north in Sheboygan County and beyond.”
The expansion was made possible by numerous organizations in the greater Plymouth area, such as Tietz Piggly Wiggly, Sargento, and Sartori, who recognized the benefit of the no-cost services that will be offered.
Additionally, the Knights of Columbus – Plymouth Council 1789, with members from Plymouth and Elkhart Lake, recently donated a new ultrasound machine that will also be used at the Plymouth clinic.
Anchor of Hope Plymouth will serve patients weekly, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays.
The clinic is located at 515 East Mill Street, Door B, while the Sheboygan location is open Monday through Friday at 1018 South Taylor Drive.
