Wisconsin’s Sixth District Congressman is applauding President Trump’s work on helping to restore peace in the Middle East.
Congressman Glenn Grothman called the peace deal between Israel and Gaza a breakthrough that “offers real hope for lasting stability in the Middle East and brings new countries to the table that have not traditionally been part of lasting peace efforts in the region. It’s significant that this agreement includes steps toward freeing hostages and ending Hamas’s reign of terror.”
A little over two years ago, members of the terrorist group Hamas launched an attack on Israel, causing the death of over 1,200 people.
The Glenbeulah Republican also notes that what makes the moment particularly encouraging is that it brings countries to the table that have not traditionally been part of lasting peace efforts in the region.
Hamas has released all 20 remaining Israeli hostages held since October 2023.
Neither of Wisconsin’s Congressional Democrats has released a statement on the peace deal, but 4th District Congresswoman Gwen Moore did say Trump and his administration, “must do everything possible to advance ongoing diplomatic negotiations in a promising direction and away from a cycle of violence” last Tuesday (October 7th).
