The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office is helping its residents protect children from guns in the home.
A program called Project ChildSafe has provided free gun locks for communities around the country.
The sheriff’s offices say residents are allowed to take as many as they want without any questions.
The free gun locks are available at the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Calumet County Public Health Building, along with the New Holstein, Brillion, and Chilton Police Departments.
Residents in the Villages of Harrison, Sherwood, Hilbert, and Stockbridge can get gun locks as well.
Project ChildSafe describes itself as the nation’s most comprehensive firearm safety and education program, created by gun owners for gun owners.
The group works around the nation to provide free firearm safety kits that include a cable-style gun lock and educational resources to help families, neighborhoods, and communities store firearms safely and securely.
Project ChildSafe also works with retailers, churches, community organizations, and healthcare facilities.
