
The defending Division Four state girls’ volleyball champion Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers are ranked fourth in this week’s Division Three MaxPreps poll.
The Lancers wrapped up their second consecutive Big East Red Division title Tuesday night with a three-set sweep of St. Mary Catholic.
They concluded division play undefeated (6 and 0) and didn’t lose a single set (18 and 0).
The Lancers are 21 and 8 overall and will participate in the Big East conference tournament on Saturday in Appleton.
Other local and area teams ranked in Division Three include Brillion at number 10th, Kiel is 15th, St. Mary Catholic is 16th, and Oconto is ranked 22nd.
In Division Four, Sheboygan Christian is ranked third, and Green Bay NEW Lutheran checks in at number 16 in Division Five.
In Division Two, Xavier of Appleton is ranked third, Oconto Falls is 4th, Fox Valley Lutheran is 5th, Luxemburg-Casco is 7th, Winneconne is ranked 20th, Howards Grove is 21st, and Freedom is number 24.
The Division One list has Kimberly and Bay Port ranked 13th and 14th, respectively, with Fond Du Lac coming in at number 21.
On tap for tonight, the Valders Vikings are travelling to Chilton to battle the Tigers in an EWC dual match.
The Vikings are 4 and 1 in league, trailing front-running Sheboygan Falls, which sits 5 and 1 in the EWC, and their 20 and 9 overall, while Chilton is 3 and 2 in league, and 11 and 10 overall.
Elsewhere in the EWC, Roncalli travels to Brillion while New Holstein hosts Howards Grove in a non-conference match. Manitowoc Lincoln is looking to bounce back tonight as they host Green Bay Preble in an FRCC dual match at the JFK.
The Ships suffered their first conference loss at Bay Port on Tuesday night, while the Hornets come into tonight with a conference record of 2 and 4. Elsewhere in the FRCC, Sheboygan North plays at Pulaski, Notre Dame hosts West De Pere, and league-leading Bay Port is at Ashwaubenon.
Other matches have Mishicot hosting Elkhart Lake/ Glenbeulah, Kewaunee home for Oconto, Sevastopol is at Algoma, Gibraltar entertains Peshtigo, Southern Door makes the short trip to Sturgeon Bay, and St. Mary Catholic has a non-conference match at Iola/Scandinavia against the Thunderbirds.
