Senator Andre Jacque has introduced a new bill aimed at addressing voter registration issues.
The measure, which was co-written by Rep. Elijah Behnke of Oconto County, would require the verification of a voter’s change of address and registration status, and the removal of ineligible voters from the official voter registration lists.
The duo noted in the announcement, “As concerns have arisen in recent years about the administration of elections in Wisconsin and throughout the nation, it is imperative to restore public confidence that the state maintains accurate voter rolls, assuring the public that only eligible voters cast ballots in our elections.”
They also said that these changes will “provide the public with greater confidence that the state takes seriously its responsibility to ensure that only eligible voters cast votes in our elections.”
