A hazardous waste event that was relocated due to construction is returning this weekend.
The Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep takes place starting tomorrow (October 10th) for farms and businesses, plus Saturday for residents.
Today, farmers and businesses can drop off hazardous items from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Manitowoc County Highway Shop, located at 3500 Highway 310.
Residents can go to the exact location from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Manitowoc County will be accepting items such as insecticides, herbicides, paints, solvents, cleaners, and other specified materials.
Items that can’t be accepted include ammunition, compressed gas tanks, tires, or light bulbs.
The Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep typically occurs in May, but construction on Memorial Drive necessitated a date change due to traffic being diverted onto Highway 310 during that time.
Since the collection started in 1985, the county has collected over 1.2 million pounds of unwanted chemicals.
You can find the list of what can and can’t be brought on the county recycling’s page at manitowoccountywi.gov.
