
A man with a lengthy rap sheet in Manitowoc County was caught stealing from the Manitowoc Meijer store.
Police were dispatched to the store on South Rapids Road at 12:45 Tuesday afternoon after the asset protection team leader reported the theft.
Surveillance footage showed a 31-year-old man, known by police due to multiple previous contacts, conceal a bike tire inner tube and air pump in his jacket.
He then left without attempting to pay for the items. The man was later located and arrested on charges of Retail Theft and two counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
The man currently has three open cases in Manitowoc County, including a previous retail theft incident and a meth possession case.
His criminal history dates back to 2010, when he was arrested and pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct.
Since then, he has been convicted on four counts of Retail Theft, three counts of Theft of Movable Property, two counts each of Burglary, and Forgery, and single counts of Criminal Damage to Property, 3rd Degree Sexual Assault, Escaping a Criminal Arrest, Possession of Meth, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia, and Fishing Without a License.
