Some volunteers in Two Rivers decided to give their time to help improve the environment last week.
Twenty-nine people came together to plant 1,000 native plants at Paddlers Park.
The city extended a huge thank you to the Lakeshore Natural Resources Partnership and the Wisconsin DNR, which covered the cost of the plants through a grant.
Grant funding will also be used in the future to help upgrade fishing access, the boat launch at the park, a dock, and overall accessibility.
Volunteers who want to help do more planting have an opportunity next Saturday (October 18th).
The Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Department will be planting twenty trees in Washington Park from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Shovels, gloves, water, and snacks will also be provided.
Funding for the tree planting project is provided through a grant from Faith in Place, made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act.
