Sheboygan nonprofits have received significant donations following an annual fundraising golf outing.
The Van Horn Automotive Group hosted its 4th annual Van Horn Gives Golf Outing last month, which saw $20,000 raised, making it the company’s most successful outing to date.
In total, seven nonprofits received a portion of the money raised, which was donated by the outing’s participants who finished in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 8th, along with a randomly selected foursome of golfers.
The outing’s winners earned $6,000, which was split and donated to the Blandine House, Dogs2DogTags, and Samaritan’s Hand. 2nd place donated $5,000 to Gift of Life, 3rd place donated $4,000 to CP Green Bay, and 8th place gave their $3,000 in winnings to the Oconomowoc Food Pantry.
The randomly selected group received $2,000, which they donated to Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County.
The funds raised during the event came from registration fees, sponsorships, raffles, and on-course games.
When discussing the donations, Van Horn Executive Director of Business Development, Ryan Thiel, said, “The winners don’t just receive recognition from their peers; they get to choose where the money goes. It’s a fun day of golf, but more importantly, it’s a meaningful way for us to support the communities where we live and work.”
