The federal government shutdown is affecting an area marathon scheduled for tomorrow (October 4th).
Emplify Health by Bellin Public Relations Manager Kelly McBride Moore says U.S. Astronaut Sunita Williams will not be able to make it in person for the Women’s Inspiration Dinner happening this afternoon (October 3rd) from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. before the Bellin Women’s Half Marathon and 5K tomorrow (October 4th).
The healthcare group says they are looking forward to sharing a personalized video introduction from Williams, followed by a 20-minute exclusive mission video detailing her story.
Williams was one of two astronauts stuck on the International Space Station for nine months after there were issues with trying to get a rocket to get her and another astronaut out.
Nonetheless, the 11th annual Bellin Women’s Half Marathon and 5K is still scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. Runners and walkers can gather at the KI Conventions Center on Main Street in Green Bay.
The race will start on Elm Street and will end in downtown Green Bay on the Fox River.
