An annual crawl hosted by United Way Manitowoc County has reached a milestone.
It’s the fifth year for the United Way Curd Crawl, which starts Saturday (October 4th) from Noon to 5:00 p.m., starting at the Fat Seagull.
Executive Director Ashley Bender tells Seehafernews.com that she decided to start the crawl after seeing another United Way group do something similar.
This year’s Curd Crawl brings a new event: a cheesy costume contest.
Bender explained that, “This has definitely drawn people back for the event as well as some new folks who love to get cheesy, love to dress up wearing fun costumes.”
Like in years past, eight restaurants, including Courthouse Pub, Brick’s Downtown Bar and Grill, The Fat Seagull, Wrap It Up, Waterfront Wine Bar, Pizza Garden, Broken Plate, and KC’s Kitchen and Cocktails,
will be the places to get a sample order for the crawl. Each person can then vote for their favorite, and the winning restaurant will get a trophy.
Bender says they love to help the United Way each year with the Curd Crawl.
“It gives them a chance to try different types of recipes and dips and things like that,” she explains. “So, we are very excited to see what they offer this year and who wins.”
Those interested in attending can purchase a wristband for $10 from United Way at their Office on Waldo Blvd, online, or at the Fat Seagull on the day of the event, which gives people access to the discount.
There will also be raffle baskets available to try to win. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase, or attendees can also participate in pay-to-play games.
It’s one ticket for $2 or an arm’s length for $50, which Bender says, “produces on average about 30 to 40 raffle tickets.”
As always, all funds are reinvested in the United Way’s mission to help those in need.
