
It will be a busy day around the area for local high school sports teams.
Starting with football, there is only one local game on the Thursday docket.
The Mishicot Indians host the Sturgeon Bay Clippers in a Packerland Conference game this evening.
Mishicot is 3 and 3 on the season and are looking to snap a two-game losing streak.
They’ve lost to Kewaunee and Bonduel in back-to-back weeks but still have a legitimate chance of returning to the postseason with a strong finish to the regular season.
They are led by junior quarterback Ben Backus, who has accounted for over 1300 yards of total offense and 18 touchdowns.
Sturgeon Bay has yet to win a game this season.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln looks to bounce back as they travel to Green Bay to meet the Southwest Trojans in a FRCC boys soccer match.
Other matches have Roncalli hosting Kohler on Parents Night, Denmark is home for Luxemburg Casco, Sturgeon Bay travels to Kewaunee, Algoma heads north to Sevastopol/Gibraltar, Howards Grove/Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah travels to Oostburg, St. Mary Catholic entertains Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran, Random/Ozaukee heads to Cedar Grove/Belgium, and Green Bay Preble hosts Sheboygan North
Elsewhere, Shawano travels to Green Bay West, Providence Academy of Green Bay has a short jaunt to Green Bay NEW Lutheran, De Pere plays at Notre Dame, West De Pere visits Pulaski, Ashwaubenon is home for Bay Port, and Clintonville is in Wrightstown to battle the Tigers.
Also, the Reedsville Cross Country team is hosting the Panther Invitationa,l with the field to include Roncalli, Valders, Mishicot, and Brillion.
Two Rivers heads north to Cherry Hills in Sturgeon Bay for a multi-school meet, which includes Algoma, Sturgeon Bay, Denmark, Green Bay Preble, and Gibraltar, while Kiel runs in a meet hosted by the Pulaski Red Raiders.
