The City of Two Rivers is considering charging visitors at Neshotah Beach for parking.
City documents indicate that parking would be available in Parking Lots 2 and 3 during the 10 peak beach days in 2026.
It would cost $10 to park for the day and would be staffed by employees or community organizations.
Other parking lots would still be available for free parking.
The city has some considerations to take into account, as state law prohibits charging non-residents while allowing residents to park for free.
Documents also show that the city must consider the slowdowns experienced on Zlatnik Drive, and increased parking fee collection could exacerbate traffic congestion.
There is also consideration to designate one of the parking areas for residents only, and either make it free or charge a small fee.
Residents would have to visit the Parks and Recreation Department’s front desk to get their residency verified and to pick up a window sticker.
The city did not take a vote on the proposal, and it was just a discussion item during a city work session on Monday (September 29th).
