The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, has confirmed that 24 people were arrested last Thursday in Manitowoc County.
In a press release, the departments say the “operation resulted in the arrest of 24 illegal aliens, including those charged and convicted of sexually assaulting a child, hit and run, driving under the influence, identity theft, and possession of narcotic equipment.”
The “intelligence-driven operation” was performed after information was received from the FBI while interviewing victims, including children, who were part of a trafficking and drug ring.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said of the arrests, “President Trump and Secretary (Kristi) Noem are dismantling transnational criminal networks and putting the safety of American children FIRST.”
Homeland Security then released photos of six of the 24 people arrested, along with the crimes for which they have been convicted.
However, they did not release the identity of all 24 people arrested.
Last week, FBI Milwaukee said that 21 people were arrested after an operation with ICE.
That number has been updated.
