
An Appleton man has been sentenced in a federal firearms case.
42-year-old Jason J. Evans was ordered to spend 10 years in prison by Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach after being convicted of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
Court records state that, on Christmas Day, 2024, the Appleton Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance.
Police entered the residence to find a woman face down in a pool of blood, and Evans kicking her head.
He was quickly detained, and four firearms were seized from the residence.
One of those weapons was determined to have been involved in a shooting in Oshkosh on November 1st of the same year.
Evans was then determined to have been the shooter in that case.
The Appleton and Oshkosh Police Departments were aided in their investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, while Assistant United States Attorney Alex Duros prosecuted the case.
