Millions of pounds of food sold nationwide have been recalled due to the possible presence of foreign objects.
The Hillshire Brand Company has issued the recall of 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products, as they may be contaminated with pieces of wood in the batter.
These now-recalled items were packaged between March 17th and September 26th and include 27 different Jimmy Dean or State Fair-branded products bearing an establishment number of either EST-582 or P-894.
These items were ordered online and shipped to retail locations nationwide.
Additionally, they were also sold to school districts across the country; however, school sales were done commercially and not through the USDA’s National School Lunch Program.
The recall was issued after Hillshire Brands received numerous consumer complaints, five of which resulted in injury from consuming the recalled products.
Consumers and institutions with these products in their fridge or freezer are urged to throw them out or return them to their place of purchase.
