Lakeland University has again been honored for positioning students for greater success after college.
The university has shared that they have made the U.S. News and World Report’s rankings for its ability to advance the social mobility of its students.
In the rankings, Lakeland came in at 54th in the nation in the Advancing Social Mobility category, which notes that the schools in this category do more than others by enrolling and graduating larger proportions of students awarded with national Pell Grants.
Lakeland University President Beth Borgen attributed this selection to many things; however, she believes that the school’s award-winning Cooperative Education program deserves much of the credit.
This program allows undergrad students to earn academic credits simultaneously as they earn real-world experiences working in their designated field.
These professional duties not only give them invaluable work experiences but also allow them to earn stable wages that go toward paying for college tuition.
Borgen went on to say, “We will continue to find ways to partner and develop innovative approaches that position Lakeland as a student-centered community resource and problem solver.”
